The schools in and around Telfair are part of the highly acclaimed Fort Bend Independent School District, which was "the best-ranked district" in the Houston region according to a study published in the Houston Chronicle. Twelve Fort Bend ISD schools were included in Texas Monthly magazine's 2007-08 list of the "best public schools" in Texas, a list that included only the top 9% of Texas schools.
The district was named Fittest School District in Texas in 2005 and 2006, and also was the 2007 Gold Medal winner in the Governor's Texas Round-Up Fitness Championship. In addition, TelfairLife provides scholarships or educational endowments, supporting opportunities for higher learning and promoting a community standard of education importance.
Any incoming 9th grader from any middle school campus in Fort Bend ISD may also apply to the FBISD Global Language Academy at Clements High School in Sugar Land. This new program will offer students an academic curriculum that will prepare them for an interconnected world and global economy. Approximately 100 students will be accepted to the Academy each year.
