From company to hometown

The Imperial Sugar Corporation saw a climate ripe for sugar cane over 100 years ago. As this former company town outgrew its parent, the city incorporated and began its path to becoming one of Houston's premier destinations. Today, Sugar Land Town Square is the social hub of the city and offers residents a place to work, live, shop and gather.

Excellent schools, libraries and civic organizations make Sugar Land a good place to raise a family. In fact, Sugar Land is among the 25 American towns included on Forbes' list of 2009 Top Towns to Live Well. Forbes cited criteria including cultural amenities, pro-business environments, highly educated workforces and enviable salaries.
